Prada’s acquisition of Versace is not only a financial transaction; it is a test of brand stewardship. The challenge is to revive one of Italy’s most recognizable luxury houses without diluting the bold sensuality, glamour and cultural energy that made Versace famous.
For Prada Group, success will depend on balance: bringing operational discipline, sharper product strategy and long-term luxury management, while allowing Versace to remain loud, seductive and unmistakably itself. The question is not whether Prada can make Versace more efficient, but whether it can make the brand feel desirable again.
Prada announced the agreement to acquire 100 percent of Versace from Capri Holdings in April 2025, in a transaction based on an enterprise value of €1.25 billion.
